Our multidisciplinary team of sports medicine professionals provides injured athletes with a physician-directed program of treatment, rehabilitation and conditioning. We offer the state's largest group of fellowship-trained sports medicine physicians.
We offer a walk-in clinic for acute sports injuries that have occurred within the last 72 hours. Walk-ins are accepted Monday through Friday, 7 - 8 a.m. no appointment is necessary. The clinic is staffed by fellowship-trained physicians. Please bring an insurance card and any X-rays that have been taken.
Nationally and internationally recognized for their progressive technique in reconstructive procedures to repair ligaments and tendons, our orthopaedic surgeons are on the leading edge in their use of other surgical techniques in sports medicine. This includes meniscal transplantation, articular cartilage transplantation and other state-of-the-art arthroscopic procedures. Our surgeons will perform any needed surgery and be involved, along with the patient's primary care physician, in follow-up care. We also help patients recover from less serious injuries that may not require surgery.
Our athletic trainers, licensed by the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure and nationally certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification, are responsible for the care, prevention, evaluation and treatment of all athletic injuries. They provide medical
services through our outreach program in local and regional high school athletics and community athletic activities. Additionally, they work alongside our physicians in each clinic acting as a physician extender by assisting in such activities like patient education and brace fitting.
UK Sports Rehabilitation brings together a multidisciplinary team of sports medicine professionals to provide a physician-directed program of treatment, rehabilitation and conditioning.
During a patient's first visit, the UK Sports Medicine team will evaluate the nature and extent of the injury and develop an individualized plan of treatment. The patient's treatment plan will be tailored to their particular sport or activity.
The rehabilitation and conditioning program will be designed to improve the patient's range of motion, flexibility, strength and balance that may have been diminished because of injury. Patients will work one-on-one with a physical therapist in
sports rehabilitation or certified athletic trainer to obtain the maximum benefit from treatment.
