LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 11, 2008) Rankings released today by U.S. News & World Report place University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital among the nation's top hospitals. More than 5,000 hospitals were evaluated and only 170 made the list. UK Chandler Hospital was recognized in the areas of gynecology (42) and ear, nose and throat (44).
"The elite hospitals on U.S. News & World Report's rankings are nationally known as the place to go when a patient is in need of highly skilled, complex care," said Dr. Michael Karpf, UK executive vice president for health affairs. "Most patients can receive quality care at their local hospital, where they are closest to support from loved ones. When more complex care is necessary, patients in Kentucky have the peace of mind that they do not need to travel beyond the state line. They can receive nationally recognized, highly skilled care right here in Kentucky at UK Chandler Hospital."
