The UK Headache Center provides specialized care to patients suffering with headache. The UK Headache Center is the only comprehensive headache clinic in the state that has been accredited by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties. It is one of only 20 centers in the country that provide advanced training in headache medicine to eligible physicians.
We use a multidisciplinary approach to evaluation and management of difficult headaches. If required, you will have access to caring physicians with expertise in neurology, neuro-ophthalmology, neurosurgery, orofacial pain, interventional pain management, plastic surgery and ENT. Our physicians are skilled at evaluating a patient with refractory headaches. Myriad options are used to bring about relief in a safe and cost-effective manner using the most up-to-date, evidence-based guidelines. Should outpatient treatment not provide relief, we offer inpatient treatment with infusion therapy, when appropriate.
The UK Headache Center collaborates with national inpatient programs for patients with a persistent headache, including patients dependent on analgesic medication who may require safe withdrawal from medications that put them at risk for rebound pain and dependency.
An effective headache management plan is founded on quality patient education. Patients learn to become aware of headache triggers and the importance of maintaining a headache diary. In addition, patients learn to understand the role of diet, exercise, stress-reduction and stable sleep patterns to control headache.
