The cardiac surgery program provides expert care for major aortic surgery, coronary bypass, beating heart cardiac operations, arrhythmia surgery (the MAZE operation) and minimally invasive techniques including robotic surgery.
We also provide specialized care for heart failure patients including cardiac-assist devices, ventricular restorative procedures and heart transplantation.
Our patient-centered approach includes a multidisciplinary team of experienced surgeons capable of managing highly complex cases. We use leading-edge technology with the state’s longest continuous robotic surgery program and UK is the only hospital in the region to perform artificial heart and multiple-organ transplants.
Our surgeons are dedicated to both exceptional clinical care and compassionate patient care, which is reflected by the many excellent outcomes our patients see.
The cardiothoracic surgery division at the UK Gill Heart Institute provides multidisciplinary care in a state-of-the-art environment, including UK’s newly expanded surgical suites and one of the country’s largest hybrid operating room.
Our surgeons have extensive experience in all aspects of advanced heart and chest surgery and are board-certified in thoracic surgery, general surgery and surgical critical care. We offer both leading-edge, minimally invasive approaches as well as traditional surgical techniques to provide you with the most appropriate care for your individual cardiovascular condition.
We make your overall care, comfort and well-being our top priority. Our cardiothoracic team sees that you and your family receive exceptional treatment during your stay.
After you leave us, we follow up on your care as expected in our clinic and with support services like our Cardiac Rehabilitation and Wellness Program or our Heart to Heart support group for transplant and mechanical heart device patients.
