UK Family & Community Medicine offers a unique, family-centered approach to maternity care,
obstetrics and family medicine. Our family practice cares for the family before, during, and after birth. We provide
specialized, family-centered care throughout pregnancy and attend the birth of your baby. After your
birth we care for you as well as your newborn. After you go home, we can see you and your child in our
office for follow up and well child visits.
In our clinic, we practice “continuity care,” which means that you will see the same provider throughout
your pregnancy, and this provider will also be the one to attend your birth and care for your newborn.
Generally, this provider will be a physician resident overseen by a family medicine attending
experienced in obstetric care.
If you are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant and would like to establish care at our clinic,
please call for an appointment. If you are newly pregnant, your first visit will most likely be with a nurse
who will gather information and set you up with one of our physicians.
All of our deliveries take place in the UK Birthing Center.
At UK Family & Community Medicine, we care for patients during every age and stage. From the birth of
your baby to his or her sports physicals, we provide care for children including:
• Newborn admission after birth.
• Well visits/physicals and sick visits.
• Referrals to specialists if needed.
• Well woman exams and pap smears.
• Sexually transmitted disease screening.
• Colposcopy (a procedure used to evaluate the cervix after an abnormal pap).
• Endometrial biopsy (taking a sample of the uterine lining).
• Contraception management including: Injections, implants, and intrauterine devices (IUD).
