LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 6, 2009) Couples trying to conceive are often inundated with well-meaning advice, but much of the "common knowledge" in circulation is based on myth rather than fact, says a University of Kentucky fertility specialist.

Dr. Ken Muse is an associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the UK College of Medicine.

In a guest column in Sunday's Herald-Leader, Muse dispels some common myths surrounding fertility and offers reassurance to couples who are trying to get pregnant. The column is part of an ongoing series of health columns by UK HealthCare experts appearing in each Sunday's edition of the Herald-Leader and online at BluegrassMoms.com.
