My name is Meriem K. Bensalem-Owen; I received my medical degree from the Université d' Alger, Algiers, Algeria. I then completed a fellowship in Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology at the University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor. I am board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Epilepsy, Clinical Neurophysiology and Neurology.
I am a fellow of the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society and a fellow of the American Neurological Association. I am a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Epilepsy Society and honorary member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. I received several teaching awards including the Abraham Flexner Master Educator Award and the Champions in Health Award by the Epilepsy Foundation Kentuckiana.
I specialize in the care of adults with epilepsy with a special focus on treatments of drug-resistant epilepsy. I have a special interest in planning for epilepsy surgery in potential candidates and responsive neuro-stimulation as well as caring for women with epilepsy during their reproductive years.
