Tom C. Badgett earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville and his doctorate in molecular biology from the University of Kentucky. He completed his internship and residency in the Department of Pediatrics at University of Louisville and Kosair Children’s Hospital.
Badgett comes to Kentucky Children’s Hospital from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health where he has been a pediatric hematology/oncology fellow. His research at the National Cancer Institute focused on next-generation sequencing of pediatric solid tumor genomes.
Badgett is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. In 2010 he was awarded the Scholar in Training Award by the American Association of Cancer Research, the Fellows Award for Research Excellence by the National Institutes of Health and the Best Oral Presentation at the Advances in Neuroblastoma Research conference in Stockholm, Sweden.
