The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences provides medical and surgical services for ocular diseases and eye disorders for children as well as adults. The department’s faculty offer ophthalmic consultations and perform computerized visual field testing, and diagnostic electrophysiology testing, including electroretinography, visual-evoked potentials, ultrasonography, photography and fluorescein angiography.
Early detection and treatment of many sight-threatening diseases may prevent visual loss. When it comes to children, the most important preventive steps are routine eye examinations, visual screening tests, and preventing eye trauma.
